Job description
Our client is looking for an experienced Account Director to join their Medical Communications team. This role will involve overseeing important client relationships, providing strategic guidance, ensuring the successful completion of projects, and driving growth within accounts. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of medical publications.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and guide a team of client engagement professionals, with a primary focus on delivering impactful medical affairs initiatives, especially related to publications.

Serve as the main liaison between clients, healthcare professionals, and expert authors, facilitating the coordination of journals and congress events.

Supervise daily account operations, ensuring that all activities are aligned with client objectives and business goals.

Manage the publication process, including oversight of timelines, budgets, and communication with authors, journals, and congresses.

Leverage publication management tools (such as iEnvision or PubStrat) to monitor progress and ensure that deadlines are met.

Conduct research and network to identify and recruit suitable authors.

Create proposals, estimates, and presentations for client meetings.

Collaborate with internal editorial and medical teams to ensure that all client needs are met and scientific accuracy is maintained.

Mentor and support the development of junior team members, helping them take on greater responsibilities.

Leverage successful programs and established relationships to generate additional business within assigned accounts.

Participate in new business activities, including contributing to RFP responses and supporting pitch presentations.
Experience & Skills:

6-8 years of experience in medical affairs and publications, ideally within an agency environment.

Familiarity with publications management systems such as iEnvision, Datavision, PubStrat, or similar tools.

Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead internal teams effectively.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Highly organized, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strategic thinker with problem-solving abilities, focused on driving account growth.

Experience in financial management, including budget oversight and forecasting.

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
