Vice President, Client Services, Medical Communications, East Coast

Seeking Vice President, Medical Communications to join a global medical communications agency. The ideal person will have managed large-scale accounts and have expertise in various deliverables, they draw on a wide range of knowledge to ensure that clients receive top-quality service. You will oversee projects and finances, drive growth, and be a trusted point of contact for clients, providing strategic guidance and support on a day-to-day basis. This is a remote role, requiring the person to be East Coast based and willingness to travel.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Develop and execute the overall medical communication strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s therapeutic areas, clinical development goals, and brand objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of medical communication professionals, ensuring high performance, professional development, and adherence to best practices in scientific communication.
  • Serve as the key leader and subject matter expert on medical communications across the organization, providing guidance to senior leadership on scientific and regulatory communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to tailor medical content to the needs of diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals, patients, regulatory bodies, and the general public.
  • Work closely with clinical, regulatory, marketing, and commercial teams to ensure the seamless integration of medical communications across the organization’s initiatives.
  • Lead the communication of clinical trial results to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the presentation of data is clear, accessible, and aligned with strategic goals.
  • Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and scientific communities to enhance brand credibility and reputation.
  • Stay current on the latest medical, regulatory, and industry trends to provide guidance on potential risks and opportunities related to medical communications.
  • Develop and implement processes for managing medical communication risks, including issues related to product claims, advertising, and promotional materials
  • Develop and manage the budget for the medical communications department, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to support key initiatives.
  • Evaluate and oversee the use of external vendors, agencies, and contractors as needed to support communication activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • 8 + years' in a Medical Communications agency setting (ideally focusing on commercial/medical affairs) minimum 5 year's in a leadership role
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., science, pharmacology, or medicine) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in client-facing roles, managing projects in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Expertise across a range of therapeutic areas and project types.
  • Strong project management skills, with comfort managing financials, budgets, and forecasting.
  • People-focused approach with experience in team management and cross-functional collaboration with scientific and creative teams.
