Senior Medical Writer, Medical Communications
Job description
My client are seeking a Senior Medical Writer to join their global medical communications agency. There are several positions across medical affairs, commercial and publications. Remote opportunities East/West Coast.
THE ROLE:
- Design, develop, and edit a wide range of materials for various audiences
- Deliver well-written, scientifically accurate materials that align with client objectives and are ready for review.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of the brief, asking informed questions to ensure all necessary information is gathered for independent work.
- Present content updates to clients and collaborate with HCPs and subject matter experts to develop and approve materials.
- Complete written materials on time and within budget.
- Utilize client review systems (e.g., Veeva, DataVision)
- Review basic medical communication deliverables, offering constructive feedback.
- Confidently attend client meetings and deliverables (e.g., advisory boards) independently, with minimal senior supervision.
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of relevant therapy areas and products.
- Conduct research on medical and scientific topics, using reputable sources and annotating them during the writing process.
- Stay informed about the latest scientific advancements and share relevant knowledge with internal teams and clients.
- Work flexibly across various client teams, deliverables, and therapeutic areas, gaining expertise in leading experts within specific therapeutic areas
- Attend and contribute to client meetings, including project kick-offs, status updates, and client/HCP calls as needed.
- Provide regular updates to senior team members, ensuring they are aware of account activity and flagging any potential issues.
- Think strategically beyond individual tasks, identifying interdependencies and potential challenges.
- Follow SOPs and manage time effectively to prioritize across multiple accounts.
- Consistently meet deadlines, notifying senior team members when additional time is required.
- Demonstrate an understanding of allocated hours and work efficiently within them.
- Maintain an average billability of approximately 85%.
- Ensure timesheets are completed accurately and on time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Higher degree in a relevant subject (PhD, MD, PharmD, etc.)
- Proactive and enthusiastic about trying new things.
- 2–3 years of medical writing experience within a medical communications agency setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a passion for creativity.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Experience working with clients and HCPs
- Ability to provide basic reviews of deliverables for scientific accuracy and integrity.
