Business Development Director – Berne, Switzerland

BioTalent has partnered with an innovative medical device organisation based in Berne, Switzerland who are looking for an exceptional Business Development Director to join them.

Despite the title of this role, this position is not expected to go out and win new business but instead will be focused on managing their existing customers. With a global perspective, the successful individual will be able to travel internationally 5 - 10% of the year to meet directly with clients. Traditionally, a role such as this, requires someone who has experience of working across multiple regions - this one however, does not. So, if you are looking to gain exposure into working globally, this could be the perfect opportunity!

This position will strategize and deliver on how to provide the best service for existing clients. As an individual contributor, the role does not include direct reports in its current capacity – this however could change in the future, depending on how the division continues to grow.

The site is located in Berne and offers hybrid working with 2 days expected onsite per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identification, evaluation and acquisition of new projects with existing pharmaceutical and biotech partners
  • Participation in relevant meetings/conventions and active networking with key suppliers
  • Participation in the definition and execution of the promotion strategy in the area of delivery systems
  • Analysis of the relevant accounts and markets and participation in strategy development and implementation of strategic goals
  • 5 – 10% international travel (mainly across Europe & the US)

Experience Required:
  • Completed business administration or technical/scientific degree
  • Several years of professional experience in a comparable function in B2B business in the medical technology or pharmaceutical industry in an international environment
  • Experience of managing key account for a medical device company is essential
  • Fluency in both German & English
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with high self-motivation, strong customer orientation and a flair for technology
  • Proven sales and negotiating skills, acquisition skills, strong social skills and very good communication skills
