Position: Medical Technical Officer (Histology)
Location: London Euston
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (37.5 hours/week, with weekend rota participation)
Join a global leader in integrated diagnostic services and contribute to the provision of high-quality histopathology services. As a Medical Technical Officer, you will assist in ensuring smooth laboratory operations under supervision, delivering accurate and timely results to support patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cut, stain, and dispatch specimens to the highest standards within agreed turnaround times.
- Assist in controlling the quality and accuracy of histology work output.
- Ensure proper and regular archiving of samples.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment in line with departmental policies.
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations and safe laboratory procedures.
- Participate in continuous training and staff appraisals.
- Assist in embedding and other tasks as required by the histology team.
Requirements:
- Allied Biomedical Science-related degree.
- 1-2 years of experience in histology, including microtomy and special stains.
- Strong knowledge of histological techniques and Health & Safety practices.
- Experience with laboratory-based IT systems and accreditation processes.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a commitment to personal development (CPD).
- High level of service focus and passion for results.
