Position: Medical Technical Officer (Histology)
Location: London Euston
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (37.5 hours/week, with weekend rota participation)

As a Medical Technical Officer, you will assist in ensuring smooth laboratory operations under supervision, delivering accurate and timely results to support patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cut, stain, and dispatch specimens to the highest standards within agreed turnaround times.
  • Assist in controlling the quality and accuracy of histology work output.
  • Ensure proper and regular archiving of samples.
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment in line with departmental policies.
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations and safe laboratory procedures.
  • Participate in continuous training and staff appraisals.
  • Assist in embedding and other tasks as required by the histology team.

Requirements:

  • Allied Biomedical Science-related degree.
  • 1-2 years of experience in histology, including microtomy and special stains.
  • Strong knowledge of histological techniques and Health & Safety practices.
  • Experience with laboratory-based IT systems and accreditation processes.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a commitment to personal development (CPD).
  • High level of service focus and passion for results.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
