Position: Laboratory Manager (Microbiology)
Department: Microbiology Lab
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Schedule: Full-Time
Role Summary:
Manages and leads a microbiology lab, ensuring compliance with quality standards (CAP, TJC) and oversight of lab staff and processes. Collaborates with directors and medical staff, provides 24/7 call coverage, manages budgets, and ensures regulatory compliance. Responsible for testing quality, equipment maintenance, and staff development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead lab operations for a subspecialty area (e.g., Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology).
- Manage staff performance and ensure adherence to safety and compliance standards.
- Oversee lab quality, equipment maintenance, and fiscal responsibilities.
- Ensure accreditation and regulatory compliance (CAP, CLIA, OSHA, etc.).
- Participate in strategic planning, process improvements, and quality assurance initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a specific lab area; 3+ years in supervisory roles.
- Preferred certifications: ASCP, NCA, or equivalent.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and scientific knowledge.
Experience:
- Supervisory experience in clinical lab settings.
- Familiarity with accreditation and compliance requirements.
Skills:
- Leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Technical expertise in laboratory operations and equipment management.
