Job description

The Director of Key Accounts will manage relationships for a portfolio of high-priority pharmaceutical and biotech clients. This role involves fostering strong partnerships, creating and executing strategic account plans, and coordinating with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions. Success in this position will be measured by client satisfaction, retention, and driving the growth of new and existing business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet annual sales targets within assigned key accounts by nurturing and expanding customer relationships.
  • Develop and implement account management strategies to drive growth in the genomics sector.
  • Conduct ongoing account mapping to identify decision-making units and sell effectively using a solution-oriented, team-based approach.
  • Monitor market dynamics, including RFP/RFI opportunities, competitor activities, and emerging risks, and develop tactical sales plans to address them.
  • Lead business reviews and deliver capabilities presentations to both current and prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, technical support, and corporate development to meet client needs and achieve revenue goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Biology or Life Sciences.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing a sales team.
  • A minimum of 7 years in a commercial role within the genomics field.
  • A proven track record of 2+ years exceeding sales targets while working with pharmaceutical or biotech accounts.
  • Strong business acumen, decision-making, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment, with a consultative approach to client management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across organizations.
  • Experience using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) for tracking opportunities and tasks.
  • A valid U.S. driver’s license.

Working Conditions/Schedule:

  • Willingness to travel overnight as needed (up to 50%, depending on the territory).
  • Home office-based role, located on the East Coast.
