Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Contract CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Programmer to join our quality assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for programming and operating CMM equipment to ensure precision measurement and inspection of complex metal components manufactured through our hybrid additive-subtractive processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement CMM inspection programs for complex metal parts
- Create measurement routines using Zeiss Calypso software
- Perform first article inspections and in-process quality checks
- Analyze measurement data and generate detailed quality reports
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve dimensional issues
- Optimize inspection processes to improve efficiency while maintaining accuracy
- Support process validation for new product introduction
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience programming and operating Zeiss CMM equipment
- Advanced proficiency with Zeiss Calypso software
- Experience creating and modifying complex Calypso measurement plans
- Knowledge of Calypso PMI and CAD-based programming workflows
- Ability to use Calypso's advanced features for difficult-to-measure geometries
- Experience with GD&T principles and interpretation of technical drawings
- Knowledge of quality systems and standards (ISO 9001, AS9100)
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing processes and related inspection challenges
- Understanding of subtractive manufacturing processes and machining principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Zeiss Calypso programming
- Experience with Zeiss CALYPSO planner and Zeiss PiWeb reporting software
- Experience with metal additive manufacturing inspection
- Knowledge of hybrid manufacturing processes
- Background in aerospace, defense, or medical device industries
- Experience with Zeiss portable CMM systems and laser scanning
- Familiarity with statistical process control methods
- ASME Y14.5 certification or equivalent
Contract Details
- 6-month initial contract with possibility of extension
- Full-time position (40 hours per week)
- On-site work in Boston, MA manufacturing facility
