We are seeking a strategic and experienced Category Buyer to lead the procurement of engineering services—including design, construction, commissioning, and qualification—for our global capital projects. This role involves developing and executing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships to ensure quality and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for engineering services in support of major capital projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including project leads, contract management, sourcing, and engineering) to align on sourcing needs and ensure smooth project execution.
- Conduct thorough market research and supplier analysis to identify and evaluate potential suppliers.
- Oversee the full RFx process, from gathering initial information to finalizing contracts, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and supplier performance to drive informed decision-making and mitigate risks.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize procurement processes and implement cost-saving measures.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key metrics and strategic insights.
- Facilitate the onboarding of suppliers to sustainability and responsible sourcing programs, ensuring adherence to ethical and environmental standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in procurement, category management, or supply chain roles within the life sciences or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of the engineering services market, including relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Proven expertise in negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and conducting market research.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on driving results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English is required; additional language skills are a plus.
- Professional certification (e.g., CIPS) is desirable.
