Safety and equity harmonise with success – how can we champion both for women in Engineering? Come along to BioTalent Social’s latest networking initiative/panel discussion on 28th September, where we’ll explore the opportunity-rich industry with the help of our expert guests.
In line with this year’s Women in Engineering theme of ‘Making Safety Seen,’ we want to uncover how we can build a safer and more equitable world of STEM, one that celebrates excellence, thrives on diversity, and creates safer working conditions for all.
Our panel discussion will delve into this and more, including:
The power of workplace vulnerability
Defining psychological safety
Finding and platforming role models
Your role in creating cultural change
Tips for advancing your engineering career
A lack of representation has been a feature of the engineering space for too long. By platforming conversations like this, we can begin to create even greater access to fulfilling, meaningful, and impactful STEM careers, underpinned by growth-enabled environments.
Our panel will include:
Dan Jeffery - Host and Chair @ BioTalent Social
Doris Neville - CMC Head of Engineering and Commercialisation @ Praxis

Doris Neville
Doris is the CMC Head of Engineering and Commercialization at Praxis Precision Medicines; her main role is to ensure that manufacturing processes are appropriate and ready for commercial launch. Doris was born in New York, grew up in Venezuela and currently lives in Newburyport, MA. She graduated with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University and also holds two BS degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from University at Buffalo (State University of New York). Doris has over 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical process development and has held roles at Merck, Amgen and now at Praxis. She has validated 7 commercial drug processes and was a key member in the launch of 4 new drugs (IMLYGIC, BELSOMRA, ARCOXIA, and ISENTRESS). She has developed, scale-up and validated processes in the US, Puerto Rico, Ireland, and Singapore. Her experience is mainly in small molecule Drug Substance processes, but also spent several years in biological Drug Product fill and finish.
In her spare time, Doris enjoys diverse unrelated hobbies including jigsaw puzzles, baking, drawing, painting, reading, kayaking, designing, researching, and learning. While living overseas for a validation campaign, she designed and oversaw the building of her current home, including all interior. In 2012, Doris serendipitously learned how to sail in the Hudson River and since then, she has been trying to spend as much time over the water as life has allowed her, including one very cold, 35-day race across the Pacific Ocean from Qingdao to Seattle, where she experienced hurricane-force winds clocking in at 140 mph.
